Sometimes less flexibility is more: The Bio-Organic set is ideal to get a rough idea about the shape of larger structures. The sturdy connection allows assembling e.g. oligosaccharides and smaller peptides without risking that the construction falls apart already during the building process. Due to the small size even larger molecules do not take too much space on the desk and the models can be easily stored in a book-shelve. The material of the building set is rather stiff and is not intended to show conformational changes. In other word the set is not recommended for someone who wants to look at cyclohexane conformers: any attempt to flip a ring would destroy the model. Nevertheless, the set is very useful to practice basic stereochemistry and a set of diastereomers fits easily into almost any pencase.
